CD-ROM VERSIONS of Apologia science texts contain all of the information found in the print versions of the courses, plus multimedia add-ons such as animations, videos, narrations, and audio pronunciation guides. Students can take tests and answer questions on the computer or print out the study guides and tests to answer them on paper. Password protected answers are available to parents for grading. This is a complete course--not a supplement. Apologia offers technical support for the following operating systems: Windows 95, Windows98, Windows ME, Windows NT 4.0, Windows 2000 Professional, Windows XP Home and Windows XP Professional. The supported configuration for the CDs is Internet Explorer 5.5 SP2 and higher, Windows Media Player 6.1 and higher and Adobe Acrobat 5.0 and higher. These three programs are offered on the CDs.Minimum requirements for the software are: a 486 with a 66 MHz (megahertz) processor; a mouse; for Microsoft Windows 95 or Windows 98: 16 MB (megabytes) of RAM; a sound card; for Microsoft Windows NT 4.0: 32 MB of RAM, running service pack 3 or higher; video and sound compression installed (part of Windows); for Microsoft Windows 2000: 64 MB of RAM ; disk space to install 111MB; a CD-ROM drive and disk space to run 80 MB after restart. Although technical support is not provided for Macintosh and Linux operating systems, this course can be run on Mac OSX and higher, Virtual PC 5.0 and higher, and Linux running KDE or Gnome.
